9 Natural Remedies To Heal Wounds Faster

Last Updated: September 26, 2018 By Cheeky Team Member

Obviously, some wounds require expert care. However, beyond the life-threatening wounds, where blood loss and repair are an issue, there are everyday ordinary opportunities to get numerous dings, bruises, cuts, scrapes and abrasions. And, though most of us have a handy pharmaceutical arsenal to handle this sort of daily onslaught, it might be interesting for us to reflect on the fact that Mother Nature also has a pharmacopoeia, and within it an array of useful healers, most available at the local supermarket. These natural items aid healing in a variety of ways, including by fighting off microbes, soothing sore skin, cooling burns, reducing inflammation, preventing or relieving infection, reducing hurt and slowing bleeding. Most can be applied right on the skin, though not necessarily on broken skin. Mother Nature wound healers to try out include, turmeric, aloe vera, calendula, garlic and honey.

Key Takeaways:

  • Pure honey, which has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, is also known as Manuka honey.
  • Turmeric is antiseptic and has the ability to modulate collagen, which means it will alleviate excess bleeding.
  • Arnica, also called mountain daisy, reduces bruising better than vitamin K, according to one study

“For years, the aloe gel has been used to heal scrapes and burn wounds. It’s actually not uncommon for chefs to keep it in their kitchen just in case they burn themselves.”
