One of my greater strengths is getting things organized, where that falls short though is keeping it that way. As I add to my systems or rethink how we may handle emergency situations, it seems I continuously rearrange how I have things stored. We live in less than 1,000 feet with NO on property storage, meaning things like tools and emergency equipment end up in nooks and crannies.
If you’re read this far … You’re going to be disappointed to learn that I don’t yet have a solution to this and am currently trying to determine the best way to blend organization for everyday use and emergency planning.
I want our everyday items to be convenient to reach, and our emergency items easy to find. And in some cases everyday items are also emergency items like canned goods & hand tools.
I’m thinking about things like
Everyday items:
- Canned Goods
- Dishes
- Pots & Pans
- Cleaning Supplies
- Small Appliances
- Small Hand Tools
- Paperwork
- Family Photos & Keepsakes
- Home Computer / Printer
Emergency items:
- Canned Goods
- Potable Water
- Portable Stove
- Flashlights
- Batteries
- Charging Gear
- Radio
- Rain Gear
- Gloves
- Hand Tools
- Security Items
Moreover, it would make home life happier if I could keep the bedroom, bathroom, and common area of the house free from clutter.
Wish me luck. As this situation improves, I’ll keep you posted.
