Dehydrated apples are healthy snacks that are great for camping, hiking or packed lunches. Kids love them too. Before dehydrating, the apples need to be peeled and cored, then sliced or diced. You can dehydrate apples in a warm kitchen oven in about 10-12 hours. Just make sure not to brown them. If you own a home food dehydrator, it will do the job more efficiently. Alternatively, you can use a solar food dehydrator or even just hang apples rings on monofilament near a sunny window. Dehydrated apples can be stored in the pantry or freezer, but not the fridge, which will partially rehydrate them.
