Many Americans live off-grid with no electricity, and have learned a few lessons from their experience. If you use firewood to cook and heat, it takes a lot of time and effort. Also, compared to traditional grid electricity, solar powered electricity is easy-to-use is becoming more affordable. With the energy that your house consumes, you understand that there is typically more electricity than you actually need. Finally, one thing all off-grid owners can agree on are that batteries are a useless, cumbersome, money pit.
