If you have baking soda in the cupboard you have medicine at your fingertips, long used for many benefits. You can make a paste of baking soda for bug bites, and itchy skin. Baking soda added to steaming water can clear up sinuses. Baking soda can be added to a glass of water to combat heart burn. It has been suggested that sodium bicarbonate tablets can slow kidney disease. Baking soda can also replace toothpaste if you run out. It can also be used as a mild antiseptic. Baking soda helps with diaper rash and also can be placed in your boots to prevent blisters. Baking soda eliminates odors. It is used in pet beds, litter boxes, and carpets. Baking soda can be used to scrub your kitchen and clean your sponges. It can also discourage ants. If you want to know if baking soda is still effective pour it into some apple cider vinegar and if it fizzes it is still good.
