Last Updated: September 15, 2018 By Cheeky Team Member

When stockpiling comes to mind, preppers logically think of food. But, there are a great many useful day to day items that we purchase, often when getting food, without thinking about it. Paper, products, health and beauty items and school items are on the list for most of us. You may have unique items that if you stop and think are things you buy on a regular basis. In the event of a situation that causes dearth, be it large, or small, having an extra supply of these items would certainly be both useful and a relief.

Many of these items you can find for a song at the dollar store. But, there are also coupons and deals that come in the mail, or can be found online. Nor is it always necessary to go for the preferred brand. Look for close-outs and holiday specials.

The list of things that can be stockpiled that are not edible is large and could vary. Ammo, duct tape, paper products and plastic ware, vitamins, meds, first-aid supplies, storage bags and containers, hygiene and beauty necessities, including hair ties, insect repellent are some. But, if you look in your cupboards you are bound to suss out more.

Key Takeaways:

  • Preppers naturally think of edible items when they hear the term stockpiling, but there are a lot of none-edibles we buy without thinking, right along with the food.
  • Some of the things you buy all the time for everyday use are paper plates, plastic ware, hair ties, disposable baggies etc.
  • There are other essential non-edibles to stockpile too, such as ammo, first-aid and medical supplies, insect repellent etc.

“Shopping for non-food stockpile items is much like shopping for your grocery stockpile. It’s essential that you get the best deal you can.”
